Mommy's Favorite Milestone

Blaine has learned to do lots of new exciting things over the last 6 months, but I think this was my favorite. And it is WAAAYY harder to sit on the Bjorn unassisted than the Bumbo. LOL. Oh and while I was taking the picture he peed. :)

On the night-time EC front, as discussed before, normally I don't even bother to put him on the potty because he is too upset and just wanting to eat in the midnight hours. Well last night I decided to try something new. He woke up at midnight dry. I nursed him and he fell asleep. This is normally when I would just transfer him to the crib still asleep. I decided to take him to the potty. He woke up, peed, and I put him back into bed with his eyes wide open. He fell asleep no problem. Same scenario, same result at 4 AM. I did this because I knew he had to pee but more importantly, he needs practice falling asleep without my boob in his mouth. ;)

At 6 AM he woke up for the day (tired because it was wayyyy to early for him). So I can't complain, it was a 1 diaper night!!

That is so nuts to see a baby that young on a potty. You rock!

Whenever people talk about EC or I tell them about the concept they think it's crazy and bunk but I tell them, Hey I "know" someone who does it! It's real!

I've been trying to catch myself up with this potty training stuff... it's interesting. I showed my husband too and it makes so much sense. Go Blaine! :)

How awesome! Go, Blaine! :) And what a bright smile he has. Such a cutie! And I have to admit that I got a little nervous when you wrote that Blaine has to learn how to go to bed without a boob in his mouth someday. My Lainey STILL falls asleep nursing for her nap and at bedtime. We might be in for some rough times ahead!! :)

so cute! We have been trying EC with Sadie too--since she was about 6 weeks old. We definitely aren't militant about it, but I figure hey...whatever you can do to accustom kids to the potty early has got to be a step in the right direction. The baby bjorn potty is awesome. Sadie likes to sit on hers.

Your son is adorable! I have a 9-month-old son who I've been using EC with since he was about 2 months old. Since he also falls asleep nursing and wants to get nurse during the night, I'd like to try what you did--putting him on the potty before putting him back to bed. However, I would expect my son to wake up and scream because I'd have to open up his pajamas to get his diaper off. What do you put Blaine in when he sleeps? Or does he just not mind you waking him up after he falls asleep eating?

Hi! I thought he would freak too, but since he has already eaten, he is very calm when I carry him to the potty. He sleeps in what he is wearing in the pic; blue zipper jammies. He definitely wakes up all the way when I unzip his jammies and put him on the potty but that was actually what I was aiming for; falling asleep practice. He struggles with falling asleep during the day (I always have to nurse him for naps) but night-time seems to be no problem!

Lately I've just been leaving him in one diaper all night because he screams when I open up his sleeper to change him. Good for you for getting the nighttime pottying to work!
