Niagara 2009

We go to Niagara every year for the International Giant Pumpkin Growers Conference / Seminar. There are certain traditions starting to emerge such as stopping at the tunnel rest-stop, getting hastled by border guards, eating wood oven pizza, walking to the falls in blizzard or sun, and then stopping at the way home at whatever random place in PA that we can get lake erie access. The last ends up being the most fun!! (especially when icebergs are involved).

The time has come for....Pruning Fruit Trees!!

Let's start this off by telling you all that my grandma is like "prune queen". My mom would randomly come home from somewhere and see that a bush / tree / etc was absolutely butchered and be like "WAS MAMA HERE?!!". LOL. She loves loves loves to prune anything. I think she lives for this time of year (pruning fruit trees).
She is now 76 and still insists on climbing as high as a human can possibly get to pick that last cherry / apple / pear, etc, while the rest of us say, "that is totally not worth it" and sit on the ground. Well she fell out of an apple tree the other day (she is fine other than a headache and stiff neck) and while I did not witness this, just the mere thought of it gives me a heart attack. Here she is a half-hour later, using the safer approach: Step Ladder!!

Random Picture Challenge

3rd Folder

First picture with the color brown.

Yes I'm using my mom's picture folders since my computer is still gone.

The table is brown!! This is my 2nd cousin's daughter (who knows how I am related to her..."2nd cousin once removed" someone once told me) and we were getting ready for my dad's 50th birthday party!!

My favorite day of the year. And my least favorite week...

Ah yes Daylight Savings Time has returned. It is definitely the day I look forward to the most. I am a self-diagnosed SADD sufferer, so nothing is welcomed more into my life than an hour more of sunshine each evening. I wait all winter long for the day to come. YIPEE!!!!!!

HowEVER, I am extremely EXTREMELY schedulized. I have no idea why but it's just the way I am. My mom isn't this way, and neither is my sister. Mom says I was just born this way. If I stay up even one hour later than normal, I am literally in pain and the next 3 days are horrible for me. Pathetic. Now you see why I hate New Yrs Eve. LOL. I need to be asleep by 11 or life is bad. 10:30 is ideal.

Time change whether it is fall or spring puts my life into a fog and it is AT LEAST 3 weeks until I feel normal again. Yes I am very grumpy and irritable right now. GAH. I'm too tired to enjoy the extra daylight. Haha.

In other good news, I'm going to Montana next summer! So life is ok afterall!!

Can I remember what summer is like??

Ohio Farm Fields

I'm resorting to linking to pics from flickr to spice up the blog. LOL. Ok ok; AND I'll admit that I was just looking for ways to remember what green looks like. haha. Everything is so brown this time of year. This is a picture taken just half a mile up the hill from my house. You are looking at the street I live on! Amazing I know. I am thankful to travel this street multiple times a day. My mom lives on it too (and my grandma, grandpa, uncle, etc). If you look really close you can see the red barn that I can see from my bed!!! I can lie in bed and see a red barn. YAY!! As stated before, I am obsessed with barns so that is just one more amazing thing about where I live.

Now for the latest question of "what would I rather have?". Would I rather have a log cabin or a barn house?? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Almost Time!

I can't even believe it is almost time to set our clocks ahead!! YAYAYAAYAYAYYAYA!! That day is my single most favorite day in the entire universe. Even though it'll still be freezing, it will be light so much longer my happiness will increase exponentially.

I still don't have a computer or a digital camera replacement so these posts will be picture-less for awhile.

The best news is I thought my GPS got stolen, and seriously that discovery made my stomach ache; however it was safe and sound in my dad's car. HORRAY! I'm two finds away from 900 (geocaches) and the GPS getting stolen would've put a damper on my style.

I'm pretty sure if I ever had to go through something that was ACTUALLY traumatic in life, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Because just this little fiasco has given my nightmares for the last 3 nights. LOL.

It was OUR turn

As much as a blessing a robbery can be, I'm almost thankful that my mom got robbed last week because it gave me a chance to hide things that I wouldn't want stolen (example: my wedding ring).

Yep it was our turn.

I got home from school at 3 pm and notice BIG shoe prints in the snow from my drive to my deck. Yikes. I knew they weren't Nick's because his feet are smaller than mine. I go to unlock the door and TRIPLE YIKES it was unlocked. I knew for sure for sure I locked it in the morning. Yep, strewn across my kitchen floor were a few things from my BEDROOM (!!) and all the cupboards were open. Those suckers didn't get my wedding ring, class ring, jewlry box though because those were hidden. Yay. But they did get the safe in the closet with some letters and old pictures ( I told Nick to hide it and he didn't; he's really kicking himself now). Laptop is gone and that is what I'm missing the most about now. DVD player is gone. I'm freaking out about my spare car key being gone so I switched vehicles with my mom until Nick returns on Friday so sort this all out. Super frustrating and scary to be going through this without him here.

I guess what angers me the most is the cops haven't got these guys yet. I think they are up to about 45 robberies in the area. The police said they are hitting the more rural places because they have a less chance of being seen.

DIDN'T I GO OVER THIS BEFORE?! I DON'T LIVE IN THE COUNTRY. THERE ARE 3 WALMARTS WITHIN 10 MILES OF HERE!!

Guess the police think this is the country. Yay.

I blame the robberies on the recession. I think it will be getting worse before it gets better.
