Summer Evenings

I know a lot of people [in real life and through blogs] who put their kids to bed early.  Even the sleep books advise you to put your kid to bed early.  Honestly though?  Moments like this always seem to happen after 8 pm.  :)

My kid is never asleep before 10 and most days it makes me feel like a bad parent.  Then I get a photo like this and realize that my child simply gets to spend 3+ more hours outside with his dadda per day by going to bed at 10 versus 7.   Lucky kid!   August 14th  is going to come waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon; early bedtimes will be inevitable with a wakeup time before 6 AM looming for us all.  *tear*

I know what you mean. I like that Logan goes to sleep at 8 or 8:30. It is nice to have some extra time with him in the evenings. We've been sleep training to get Logan to sleep until 7 so he gets enough sleep but it is worth the extra time in the evenings.

We're guilty of putting the boys to be at 8:00, but we're a lot more flexible during the summer in letting them stay up late b/c it's light outside for so long. Glad you were able to catch this moment - it's a good one!

I have eased off my neurotic need to put J to bed at 7:30 because summer evenings are just so glorious! We have fallen into a nice routine where he's asleep around 9, then sleeps til 8 or 8:30 in the morning - score! Glad I'm not the only one doing this :)

Does he sleep in then? G has been going to bed later and later because we just don't realize what time it is and we're having so much fun. I love that you turned 30 and had your 6th wedding anniversary. That's us too this year. Growing any pumpkins this year?

Oh man, I am super guilty. Arianna goes to bed REALLY late. Some nights she will go to bed at 9:30 or 10:30pm or even later (depends who messes up her schedule which is usually the grandparents). The great thing though is that she sleeps in so I am okay with that.

I hope the transition goes smoothly for you guys when you go back to work full time!

Love that picture! Lainey keeps crazy hours for a toddler. She is rarely in bed before ten although we ARE trying to get her down a bit earlier. With Nick's crazy hours, we like to keep her up a bit later so he can see her. Although, I'm not gonna lie, it would be awesome to get her to bed when the baby goes down at eight JUST to have some "me time." Then maybe I wouldn't be on my computer at midnight when I'm dead dog tired. :( I'm stuck in a vicious cycle. Boo!

I put my kids to bed early not for them - for me! My mom always said "I never met a kid I liked after 8 p.m." and I am my mother's daughter. And our days start early...that said, we are definitely more lax in the summer - swimming and playing is too much fun!
