THE CHICKENS ARE HERE!

We raised 40 chickens two years ago and Nick figured it was time to do it again. He forgot to tell me the part about having to pick them up, unpack them, and care for them myself this week.

If you've every wondered what it is like to hang heatlamps from the garage rafters, unpack 100 chicks and teach them to drink, trying not to step on them, while having a baby strapped to your back, I'll tell you, IT IS DIFFICULT! But I'm a stronger woman because of it!

In other news, I've officially diagnosed Blaine as emotionally unstable! LOL. He just cries hysterically every single time he is upset with a situation. Examples: Mommy is driving and baby is in carseat. Mommy is making dinner and gives baby trucks and tractors (his favorite) to play with. Mommy is doing dishes and trying to have baby eat a snack. Mommy goes shopping and puts baby in shopping cart. Mommy takes baby to park and tries to have baby go in swing. Bathtime is over and Mommy takes baby out of tub to dress him.

Every single situation above (and then some) leads to hysterics. That kid knows how to throw a temper tantrum and he's only 10 months old!! The future is going to be a challenge for sure!

Poor little guy. Hope the hysterics only last as long as it takes him to start talking so he can more calmly communincate his frustration. The chickens sound like quite an adventure.

Do you have problems uploading video to Blogger? I've literally been trying all night and it's just not working. It always happens when I try to upload pics and vids. DH seems to think it's our router...he's always looking for an excuse to replace it though.

kari, i hope so! however, when he can talk, i'll still have to do dishes, and he'll still have to sit in the carseat so i'm pretty sure he'll still be mad. happy 10 months to little dude today!!!!!! i just upload to youtube and then embed the video in. havent had any issues!

Awww - poor Blaine and poor Mommy. I hope it ends soon for you! We haven't had to struggle with the carseat or shopping cart. Thank goodness! Casey does hate the "stick me in one place while Mom gets things done" part, though. Hehe.

Love the baby chicks! So sweet!

I really think Blaine and Faith would get along because she does the same things! Ugh, how much simpler would life be if they could just sit QUIETLY in the car seat??

I'm guessing as he learns to communicate more that the tantrums will lessen. Hang in there!

Awww, your grass is gorgeous. We haven't greened up that much yet.

I heard all those little chicks :)

I remember a very stressful period of huge tantrums before Austin mastered big milestones - walking, starting to talk...perhaps he is on the cusp of something and is just frustrated? Here's to hoping!

Very exciting! Blaine looks thrilled ;) Are these birds for meat or eggs?

for meat!

and yeah, blaine was less than thrilled but he was very mad at the time. you know, making a baby ride in the car for 20 minutes is pretty much child abuse. ;)

Ahh yes and give it (unpacking and caring for a hundred chicks) a year or two when you have another on your back and an overly helpful preschooler teaching the chicks to drink, very forcefully! Then you will be a very very very strong woman!
