Windmill!

We interupt "Wilbur Watch" to pretend that my every minute isn't spent waiting for this kid to pop out. Today I went on a bike ride and 2 walks. Nothing. DANG IT! I have been telling this kid for 9 months that June 3oth was the day he needed to come out and he didn't listen! He's already a rebel. :)

Anyways. My grandparents have one of those windmills that aerate the pond to keep the fishies alive and such. Well the bearing went bad or something or other so they took it down and replaced the top part. Ma-Ma painted it from John Deere colors to Ohio State colors for a change in scenery and they put up the new improved windmill on Saturday! Fun times!

38 Weeks: DUE DATES?

38 Weeks! Nick was born 21 days early and I was born 10 days early. We are definitely in between these two numbers right now, so anytime, Wilbur!!

LOL.

Which brings me to my next topic: due dates. I was talking with older women at my church and they asked me my due date. I told them July 13th and mentioned something about wanting Wilbur to come early. They said, "Oh well, with technology these days, due dates are just so much more accurate than in our days so he probably won't be too early".

No no no no no nooooooooo; I had to explain that I pretty much went in and told the nurse that my last period started on October 6th and boom they calculated my due date. There was no technology involved!! I have an "old fashioned" due date just like all of them had back in the day.

Then I thought about the other girls from my high school also due July 13th; they both are having babies that were unplanned and one didn't even know she was pregnant until December. I'm thinking maybe their due date might be one of those "fancy technology" due dates?

So I had a question for pregnant women out there: Was your due date made with any sort of ultra-sound or "technology" or was it an "old fashioned due date"?

Names Names Names!

Before I was even pregnant I predicted that one of the hardest parts about the whole ordeal would be picking a name. Yep. One problem is obvious: I am a teacher and don't want any name that I have a bad memory associated with, but more importantly, a name that is not super popular. When we told my mom our name choice, she said she didn't like it. But her only boy name she likes is Andrew (I would've been Andrew and so would have my sis if we were born boys). Well I had FOUR Andrews in my 3rd period Geometry class alone this year. I had to call one Drew, one Andrew, one Sparky, and one Salt. BLECH! LOL.

Another major problem is that Nick hated every single name on my "top choices" list. Thank goodness we got like 5 baby name books from the library and through pouring over the pages, I found a name I hadn't thought of since the 2004 Olympics! I LOVED THAT NAME and Nick actually agreed with it.

So yeah, so we don't have to hear "I don't like it" or "pick something else" or "IS THAT EVEN A NAME?!!", we've kept it a secret from some (like my grandparents), and told others (people who won't try to sway us). I'd say we are 95 % sure we are sticking with our choice.

Now, if Wilbur would just come out, we could announce his name to the world :).

Garden Update: Late June

Late June is always my favorite time to photograph the garden. Everything is still green and growing exponentially by day! This year is no different and the inch of rain we got yesterday will definitely help (unfortunately it'll help the weeds even more)!

We normally have our first ripe sweet corn by the endish of July and this year we are a good month ahead thanks to those plastic tunnels.

So the question is: What will come first, ripe corn or Wilbur?!

Funnies

This was titled "Summer Activities to Avoid" and came to me via email from babycenter.com.

You can probably guess which activity I'm doing and which I'm not. Even though I was in gymnastics for a good 12 years (LOL).

37 Weeks

Hey if the OB's make us come in once a week now, why not do a blog post weekly?

I'm up 25 lbs now but can't really notice much of a difference from normal. I'm soooooooooooooo glad that my feet haven't grown any so far (my mom went up 2 shoe sizes through her pregnancies and never went back). I don't think I can find women's 12's or 13's at stores so you probably understand my feelings. LOL.

I'm still riding my bike, working in the garden, and last night Nick had me helping clear a fallen tree in a farmers field in this crazy heat; hey anything I can do to induce labor at this point, I'm game. :)

Wilbur is still kicking like crazy, and hasn't really "dropped", but lot's of people have told me they never did really feel their baby "drop". I'd at least like ONE sign that the end is coming! I can't say I've noticed any signs that anything is different from how it was at week 20.

Still hoping for him to arrive the week of June 30th!

Home Project: NEW DRIVEWAY!

We've poured so much $$ in this house, it is crazy, but will be worth it in the long run. In the last few years we've (I use the term "we" loosely because everyone knows it is Nick with the gumpton and know-how in this relationship)....

~ gotten all new windows
~ replumbed the whole house
~ installed sewer / filled in septic tank (forced by county)
~ got new furnace
~ redid the front porch and back deck
~ put insulation into attic
~ blew insulation into kitchen walls
~ redid front half of roof that was 2 different types of shingles thanks to a 2002 tornado
~ and latest project: 100% replaced the driveway

Why redo a concrete driveway that has no visual defects? IT DRAINED TOWARDS AND INTO OUR HOUSE FOUNDATION! Yeah, not good! Crumbling block in our basement is not a good thing at all. Nick is lucky to have a cousin-in-law-by-marriage-who-knows-how-he's-related in the concrete business so we got them to come and break up the old drive and pour the new one. Deconstructing the greenhouse and moving it was neccessary for the project so Nick had to do that with no one around to help but me (someone should tell Nick that making a pregnant chick help move 300 lb greenhouse walls is not that nice).

Here's the finished product! Sorry the pics are backwards LOL.

Nick had to dig trenches by hand to lay drainage pipes for the new drive:
And while he was at it, he replaced our old cast iron sewage line with PVC pipe.

Cleaning out the well area that is under our driveway. He had to build a wood platform for them to pour the concrete on top of!

New! Template Designer...ARG

So I signed into blogger and it said "New! Template Designer" and I was thinking, "cool I'll see what there is". Tried a few different things, hated how they looked, and now I can't get it back to how I had the blog design before. ARGGG. Totally annoying. I can't find a button that says "undo" or "back to original", etc. If you can help, let me know!

36 Weeks

I'm glad to report no real updates from two weeks ago. No swelling, no heartburn, no contractions, nothing new to complain about that I was SUPER SURE I'd be complaining about by now. I've only had one rough night but we can blame that on thunderstorms. It was 85 degrees in our bedroom with storms on the horizon so we had to close all the windows before we went to sleep. Right there's the problem: There was going to be no going to SLEEP in 85 degree air for me. I had 4 fans blowing on me but still felt like I was suffocating. Every other night we've had the windows open and the bedroom has cooled throughout the evening and I've slept with no problems.
It is summer break now so I've been going to cross country practice on Mon, Wed, and Fri and riding my bike! I'm not coaching this year but it's giving me a reason to get out of bed at 7 AM and get motivated.
Yesterday I went to Amish country with my grandma (it is weird calling it "Amish country" because you only have to drive about 6 miles to Walmart to see Amish around these parts. I have cousins that are half Amish in fact. LOL). But anyways we had to get her a replacement swing for one that broke and of course I introduced her to GEOCACHING!!!!!! :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

First met: 11/19/2001
First date: 11/30/2001
When I first realized I HAD to marry this guy: 7/2/2002
First kiss: 7/8/2002
Wedding: 6/10/2006
First baby: ?/?/2010

Nick really was the one created for me. I spent a lot of my teenage years lonely and depressed because I couldn't find "the guy for me" (it happens when your parents, grandparents, and just about everyone you have to model in life met their spouses in high school). Well, God knew He was sending Nick my way very soon if I could just be patient enough. I feel we are the perfect match for one another in so many ways!

The best birthday / anniversary gift I could receive was him getting unstuck from Atlanta and getting home last night at 10:30 pm! YAY! Wilbur was happy too!

HAIL!

I've owned my house for 5 years now and lived here for 4; can you believe this was the first time I've witnessed a hail storm while at home?! The way the hail made the pond splashes "jump" was sooo cute and amazing! Of course all the while I was freaking out that it might too be hailing up the road 1 mile where our garden / pumpkin patch is. We got lucky and it didn't hail up there!

In other news, as of 2:45 yesterday afternoon, SCHOOL WAS OUT FOR THE SUMMER!! YAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAAA!!!

34 Weeks

Time for my 2 week update! A few things have happened in the last 2 weeks.

1) Baby Wilbur started getting baby hiccups. I've read that hiccups don't bother babies in the womb the way they would bother adults. HOW THE HECK DO THEY KNOW?! I don't think the scientist researcher peoples can interview babies in the womb. LOL. Well, baby hiccups bother me especially when I'm trying to fall asleep but I'm dealing and he hasn't had them for 4 days or so now.
2) My bladder of steel is officially letting me down. I can't sleep through the night w/out waking up to pee by 4 AM. That's OK though; trust me, I realize how lucky I am to have made it this far without the midnight bathroom trips. I'm still not having to wake up and go as much as I did in the 2nd month or so.
3) I went to the doctor last week and I had lost 2 lbs since my checkup two weeks before! WOA. But it has been hot hot hot and I was probably dehydrated. I'm one of those people who can gain / lose 5 lbs easy within a day based on water / food / what-not. So my total now stands at 20 lbs.
4) BABY WILBUR IS FINALLY UPSIDE-DOWN!! HORRAY!! Nick realized that his flipping upside down timed out perfectly with getting hiccups. Correlation? Who knows.
5) I made it through the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!! YEEHAWWW!! 2 more days of exams and I'm home free :)
