Ava's Rule

*click link to read if you can't see it*

Just an eye-opener and reminder for the summer months. There are so many hidden dangers lurking that could take our precious children from us. I honestly feel I need to just tether my child to his bed and never let him leave the house. We live close to a busy street and have a pond in our backyard. As Blaine gets more mobile I know I will REALLY have to step up my game as far as keeping him safe.

Ugh, what a tragedy. Am I the only one who always locks the car when I get out? I thought that was normal.

That is such a sad story. It's good you are already thinking of the road and pond. Now that it has been warm in AZ for over a month I can't even tell you how many child drownings and near drownings there have already been. The news has already commented on how it is so many for so early in swimming season. It makes me feel sick. Sure, some of the parents are probably lazy or neglectful but I have to think some of those poor parents just had a bad day or a bad moment and they will pay for it forever. So sad. You can also tell how angry the firefighters and other first responders are getting when they talk on the news. Of course there's always at least one child that dies in a hot car here too... So sad! There were some good reminders in that post, thanks for posting the link.

It is very frightening. Look at how busy the road I live on is. One day during the winter Ian learned to open the front door. I was in the kitchen so VERY close to him. I heard the front door open and bout had a heart attack. By the time I ran in there he was standing on the front porch. Dad came over that night and put chains on my front and garage doors. It only takes a second thats the really frightening part.

Thank you for posting this. I'm sure it will make all of us who read it a little more cautious.

I never even considered this before...I never lock my car. I'll need to work on that habit. Whether you have kids or not, it's a great (but sad) reminder.
