Accidental Co-Sleeper

Before Blaine was born and even after he was here, I had it in my mind I didn't want to co-sleep.  You know how that goes.  Plans schmans.  It started that I'd bring him to my bed when he woke up around 5 AM, when Nick was already out of bed getting ready for work.   Then it became that I'd bring him to bed when he woke up the first time.  Which somedays was 5 AM but somedays is 11 PM [*grin*].   Now it is to where if Nick is out of town, the kid starts the night in my bed [*double grin*].

Yes, I know it is bad.  I know it is causing him to probably never ever ever sleep through the night in his own bed.

But I have a confession:  when I'm sleeping next to Blaine, it is not only the best part of my day, it is the best part of my life

Do you know the country song that goes "Let them be little, 'cause they are only that way for awhile" ?  I'm pretty sure by the time he's a teenager, he will sleep through the night, in his own bed, and not want to snuggle with mommy.  Until then, I'm enjoying looking at my little angel at all hours of the night.

This isn't the normal arrangment. LOL.

OH MY...I have such love in my heart for your kiddo. Seriously. You are on heck of a mom! Don't you worry a speck about that kid sleeping on his own, or not, you are right, he won't be a teen crawling into your bed. You are so wise to know to JUST LOVE IT.

Aww, precious:)

I never wanted to get caught up into cosleeping and A was only in our room for a couple months before moving to the crib but he HATED being in bed next to a person..still does. he wouldn't even let me nurse him laying down!

But I love that you love it and it warms my heart see these pics.

It is the best part of life. Waking up to cuddles. Watching them fall asleep. Having them reach out and pat your face in the middle of the night. Hearing them giggle in their sleep. I wouldn't miss it for anything. I'm lucky I get to have Ian overnight sometimes.

SO very sweet. G sleeps so great in his crib, but sometimes I wish he would nap with me in bed. He doesn't want to have anything to do with it though- ha!

We did co-sleeping until she started thrashing around too much to contain in our double bed, and I loved it. She still comes in with us around 4 am, but I really miss sleeping all night with her.

I think all babies eventually figure out how to sleep on their own - and feeling safe and secure about sleep must help, and where is more safe and secure than next to Mommy?

We, Dirt and I, neither decided to have a family bed or never allow children to sleep in our bed. What happened just happened, but it did happen a lot that we had babies in our bed, and then we would have toddlers in our bed a few nights, on the eve of a couple of weddings we had a bride in our bed. But we didn't have them in our bed very often in between toddlerhood and wedding, only when they were sick and then only for a moment or two, or when they had a bad dream, maybe twice in a whole year. I would imagine with a boy it would never happen after a certain point. So you know what I say to your co-sleeping...pretty much what the song says.
