I read WAY too many pregnancy girl blogs. No, not the girls who are PREGNANT with a girl, but the girls who have more girl in them than me. You know the girls who LOVE SHOPPING, LOVE bigger boobs, LOVE decorating, and have the magazine-like nursery to go along with it. In fact, on facebook, one of my friends is pregnant and her friend made a comment that "maternity clothes shopping was the best part of pregnancy". (Take no offense if you are one of these girls, I simply am comparing you with me).
BECAUSE I COME FROM A DIFFERENT PLANET!!
Well here, in my world, I hate shopping (recall my shopping anxiety attacks), hate bigger boobs, hate decorating, have zero creative juices in my body, and dread going shopping (yes I already said that but it worth saying again I hate it so much). In fact, as I was out-growing my underwear, I almost had another anxiety attack (it took me 5 years to finally find somewhere that made the underwear I like and they discontinued it GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Now I had to go shop for bigger sizes!??).
ANYWAYS. No way was I going to have a fancy smancy nursery, I was going to have a "my world" nursery. In fact, we didn't even paint it when we moved in. We figured we would either not live here by time the kid was old enough to care, or by time he was old enough to care, he'd tell us what color he wanted! It remains yellow with teddy bear borders because when I first saw it I exclaimed, "PERFECT! THIS WILL OFFICIALLY BE MY JOHN DEERE ROOM!". I had accumulated soooo much cute john deere stuff over the years that filled my room at my mom's. Boy or girl, this baby was going to deal with my tractor paraphernalia!
Now, we obviously have to pray our baby doesn't grow up hating the things we like! EEK!

Haha...I am so with you. We didn't paint either (the room happened to be yellow) and the extent of our decorating was a sunset mural that an artist friend painted on the wall as a shower gift. I occasionally get a pang of jealousy when I look at the super-decked out, fancy-schmancy nurseries, but it just isn't me. Good for you for decorating Wilber's room to your liking - I'm sure he'll love it! And you could totally pull one over on us that you did the tractor theme on purpose...
And the best part of pregnancy? Not having your period for nine months. Shopping for maternity clothes is awful!
Oh thank goodness, I am so relieved that our little buddy Wilbur will have a normal upbringing including a normal room! Of course it begins with normal parents! Yellow is a great color, and John Deere is a perfect thing for any child to study!
The baby outgrows the decked out nursery too soon anyway. And like you said he will pick what he likes when he gets old enough to care. The decked out nurserys are for the parent not the baby and since you have it the way you like then that is what counts. Are you going to put his diaper changing station on top of the lower chest? That is what Heather did and it worked out very well.
Janelle, I'm with you on the "best part"!! LOL.
And Peg, I was going to do what you said, but then I realized that my mom had this changing table (I added on the pic) that has been through 4 kids and is still like brand new. I love it b/c I has cubbies for diapers and lotions and stuff PLUS it fits perfectly along that wall. We are lucky it is a big room!!
The nasty twist of fate that is comforable underwear is always biting me - every single time I find some that I like they are discontinued... Seriously. Plus, you never want to buy a ton at first in case you hate them, so by the time I discover I like them, they fit, they're comfortable, etc. I'm out of luck...
Love the JD room - my husband would be jealous!!
Hi dear! your baby's room looks perfectly! Good luck to you! ;)
