Our pumpkin is the 1200 lber that is the base of the panda. We donated it to the zoo. Too bad I didn't get to see it in person since we live 3 hrs away. But it looks sooooo cool!!

That is some pumpkin!!! What do you use for fertilizer? Whatever it is, I could use some on my garlic... maybe they would be a few hundred pounds each.

thanks for the commment mike!! we actually don't fertilize at all. i think giant pumpkins are 65 % genetics, 35 % good soil and 110% hard work (and i'm a math teacher LOL). but you get what i mean. during the off season i trade seeds with growers all over the world and work on ammending soil. i go to starbucks everyday and get two 5-gallon buckets of used coffee grounds (free). i mix it with leaves and cow manure and in a year it is ready. i think that garden site looks cool i will go check it out more in depth. i pretty much live on bigpumpkins.com though :). i know a guy big into garlic he has a similar website (for gardners) called perrysgreenhouse.com .
